Da Bordighera a Sasso
Tra Africa ed Amazzonia a due passi dal mare

Dalla chiesa di Sant'Ampelio si sale a Bordighera Alta, e poi si prosegue andando ad incrociare via Beodo, l'antico acquedotto del XVI secolo che riforniva il paese; dopo un primo tratto tra case e alti muri si entra in un tunnel per poi uscire in un'oasi! Questo è il palmeto del vallone del Sasso, più di 1,000 palme da datteri ornano il vallone dando una connotazione decisamente africana che stregò Monet e molti altri, soprattutto ricchi turisti Inglesi. II sentiero si snoda, in piano, tra palme, ulivi, mimose ed altre coltivazioni.
II primo tratto stato completamente restaurato recentemente, e si può arrivare tranquillamente quasi fin sotto l'autostrada. Da qui si sale per un sentierino lungo il torrente fino ad arrivare alla graziosa frazione di Sasso, da dove si domina la vallata.
II ritorno avverrà su un altro percorso, in buona parte su strada poco trafficata, per poi scendere al punto di partenza.

From Bordighera to Sasso
Between Africa and the Amazon, a stone's throw from the sea

From the church of Sant'Ampelio go up to Bordighera Alta, and then continue going to cross via Beodo, the ancient 16th century aqueduct that supplied the town; after a first stretch between houses and high walls you enter a tunnel and then go out into an oasis! This is the palm grove of the Sasso valley, more than 1,000 date palms adorn the valley giving a decidedly African connotation that bewitched Monet and many others, especially wealthy English tourists. The path winds, flat, between palm trees, olive trees, mimosas and other crops.
The first section has been completely restored recently, and you can easily get almost under the highway. From here you go up a small path along the stream until you reach the pretty hamlet of Sasso, from where you overlook the valley.
The return will take place on another route, mostly on a road with little traffic, and then go down to the starting point.
